The November Fundraiser has ended -- and, thanks to all of you, was a resounding success.  Couldn't do this work without the support of each and every one of you.

Last Month at The Lunduke Journal

To give you an idea of what you're making possible, here is a simple list of the shows and articles published by The Lunduke Journal during the last month (October) alone.

It's... a lot.

elementary OS 8 is the DEI Linux Distro

"Take that fascists!" says elementary OS founder, Daniel Fore.

Will a pro-DEI & pro-Woke marketing strategy prove successful in attracting new users to a small, commercial Linux distribution? In the words of a wise man, "It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em."

C++ Standards Contributor Banned For Using Word "Question"

C++ ISO Standards Group (known as WG21) has permanently banned a long time contributor (with dozens of papers on C++) because he included the word "question" in the title for a technical document. Seriously. It's as insane as it sounds.

A pattern of prominent developers banned from programming projects for insane reasons.

The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

openSUSE says "No Lunduke allowed!"

Those in power with openSUSE make it clear they will not allow me anywhere near anything related to the openSUSE project. Ever. For any reason.

Well, that settles that, then! Guess I won't be contributing to openSUSE! 🤣

"Andreas Kling creator of Serenity OS & Ladybird Web Browser" - Lunduke’s Big Tech Show - September 13th, 2023 - Ep 044

As someone who has spent many hours playing this game, and many more hours trying to help my youngest brother play this game, I laughed so hard I almost peed myself.

🤣🤣🤣

I'm getting nostalgic some times for the days you didn't have to open an account for every single piece of software. I would seriously rather go back to when you spent weeks failing to get sound in a Dos game than heaving to open one more account.

Um, so I just made an AUR package for SyncTERM 😅

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/syncterm-src

There was already syncterm but that's an really old version, mine will build from source so you get the latest/greatest.

paru -S syncterm-src should do it (or yay -S syncterm-src if you're that way inclined 😜)

Last week at The Lunduke Journal (Nov 10 - Nov 23, 2024)
Mozilla Nearing EOL, Linux CoC Insanity, Red Hat Ditching Linux for AI, & … Pokémon Go?

What in the heckatarnations is going on in the computer world?

I'd love to point to one particular story and say, "If you click on just one of these links... this is the link you need to click on."  But... dang, man.  All of these stories are absolutely insane.

Not to mention the fact that there are at least four stories -- from just the ones below -- where The Lunduke Journal can confidently say "Told ya so!" to all of the other Tech Journalists out there.

Which.  Not gonna lie.  Feels pretty darn good.
