The IBM / Red Hat Leaks: What we've learned so far
April 14, 2024
post photo preview

Last updated: June 21, 2024

The following covers the massive number of leaks (some from The Lunduke Journal, some from O'Keefe Media) regarding IBM and Red Hat beginning in December of 2023 -- plus some of the lawsuits resulting from those leaks.

The sheer quantity of material -- and the things we have learned from them -- can all be a bit overwhelming.

Let's go, in order, over all of the IBM and Red Hat leaks that have been published -- so far -- by The Lunduke Journal and O'Keefe Media Group.  With a short bullet list of some of what we've learned from each leak.

Dec 11, 2023 - The IBM CEO Video

O'Keefe publishes a leaked video of IBM CEO, Arvind Krishna.

  • IBM will withhold bonuses from executives who fail to meet race-based hiring quotas.
  • IBM has fired people for refusing to discriminate, based on race, in hiring.

Dec 12, 2023 - The America First Legal Complaint

Based on the December 11th leaks, America First Legal files a complaint against IBM for racial discrimination.

Dec 13, 2023 - The IBM All-Staff Call

O'Keefe publishes a leaked video of IBM CEO, Arvind Krisha, discussing the December 11th leaks during an IBM-wide All-Staff Meeting.

Dec 13, 2023 - The Red Hat "Allyship Kick-off" Presentation

The Lunduke Journal publishes contents from a leaked, internal Red Hat presentation.

  • Red Hat and IBM consider "Ally" to be, fundamentally, an anti-White concept.
  • Red Hat and IBM consider "Whiteness" to be a bad thing.

The entireity of the presentation was published, without edits.

Dec 20, 2023 - The IBM eMail & Slack Leaks

The Lunduke Journal publishes two articles containing leaked material from within IBM and IBM subsidiaries -- predominantly in the form of screenshots of email and Slack messages: "Diversity Training & White Fragility", & "Anti-White Pledge & Ally Badges".

  • IBM has internal book clubs reading anti-White books.
  • "Diversity" training is mandatory within IBM.
  • Employees are encouraged to make a public "pledge" to IBM's anti-White definition of "Allyship".
  • Employees who promote "Ally" ideas are rewarded with "Badges".
  • Executive compensation is tied to IBM employees adhering to and promoting these ideas.

Dec 22, 2023 - The Red Hat CEO Video

The Lunduke Journal publishes exclusive leaked video of Red Hat CEO, Matt Hicks, speaking during an All-Hands Call.

  • Red Hat has a goal of hiring at least 30% Black and 30% Women candidates.  This is in-line with the parent company (IBM) goals.
  • Red Hat is aware of the leaks, as of Dec 13th, and was not prepared to make a public statement at that point.

Dec 23, 2023 - Men's Room Door Lectures

The Lunduke Journal publishes leaks that show some of the strange aspects of working at IBM -- as it relates to Diversity & Inclusion topics.  No massive revelations, but provides some odd insights into IBM culture.

Dec 26, 2023 - The IBM "Word Usage Council"

The Lunduke Journal publishes leaked Slack conversations where IBM employees discuss the banning of engineering and technical words.

  • IBM has a "Word Usage Council" which tells engineers what words they are allowed to use.
  • Any mention of a color is deemed "problematic".

Apr 16, 2024 - Red Hat ignoring Ethics Violations

The Lunduke Journal publishes leaked information detailing Red Hat's ethics violation reporting system.

  • Red Hat provides an "Ethics Hotline", but ignores ethics violation reports dealing with the racist or sexist policies already documented.
  • Employees do not feel safe reporting these ethis violations.

May 8, 2024 - Red Hat June 7, 2023 Company Meeting Slides

Thanks to a lawsuit from a former Red Hat employee -- and the publicly available lawsuit PDF -- The Lunduke Journal was able to publish the slide deck from the June 7th, 2023 Red Hat Company Meeting.

This slide deck provided additional confirmation of the racist hiring practices.

June 21, 2024 - Missouri v. IBM

The State of Missouri filed a lawsuit, against IBM, regarding the racist hiring practices.  That lawsuit, based in part on some of the leaked IBM material outlined previously in this article, seeks to compel IBM to cease all racist employment programs and policies.

August 21, 2024 - Dill v. IBM

A former employee has sued IBM, alleging that he was fired for being a White man.

That brings us up to date...

As new whistleblowers continue to come forward, The Lunduke Journal will continue verifying, researching, and publishing newsworthy, leaked material -- with a substantial amount of material currently being prepared for publication in the coming days.

If you work for IBM and / or Red Hat, and have inside information that you feel should be shared with the public, here are instructions on how to anonymously become a whistleblower.

Thank you to the brave whistleblowers who have come forward so far -- and thank you to the supporters of The Lunduke Journal for making this work possible.

The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

Well, that settles that, then! Guess I won't be contributing to openSUSE! 🤣

No shows Dec 24th, 25th. Lifetime subs available through 26th.

A massive Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to everyone!

This year the start of Hanukkah lines up nicely with Christmas (starting on sundown, Christmas Day) -- so I'm taking off the 24th and 25th (in honor of Christmas -- and to prepare of Hanukkah).  Regular Lunduke Journal Shenanigans (tm) will resume on Thursday, December 26th.

I love the years when Hanukkah and Christmas are at roughly the same time.  Because the Jewish year is on a lunar calendar -- sometimes that means Hanukkah starts as early as the end of November.  Hanukkah right after Thanksgiving?  Still a lot of fun, but not ideal.

For me, Hanukkah starting at sundown on Christmas Day is just perfect.  Lets each holiday shine and compliment each other.

Also: A huge thank you to everyone who has subscribed or donated to The Lunduke Journal this month.  Because of you we have almost accomplished our funding goal... for next month.  We're sitting around 80% or so.  How sweet is that?

That is one heck of a fantastic holiday gift for me -- as it means I may not need to worry about running any promotions or fundraising during the entire month of January.

Less time worrying about boring business stuff, more time doing the fun Tech reporting I love.  A great way to go into Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Years.

If anyone feels like pushing us over the line (zero pressure)... I'm keeping the Lunduke Journal Lifetime Subscription available through the 26th.  If you want one (for yourself or as a gift), feel free to snag one.  They're awesome.

Either way, you rule.  Enjoy whichever holiday you celebrate.

Eat something yummy.  Do something nerdy.  You deserve it.
