So I finally decided to get rid of Windows 11 on my ASUS Tuf Gaming FX505GT and install Ubuntu but when I try it says I have to turn off Intel RST before installing. Looking everywhere, some people say there is no solution, others saying I can turn it off in the BIOS but I can't even find it in the BIOS. Frustrating beyond belief.

Linux Code of Conduct Board Blocks File System Changes

A code change for new bcachefs features is being blocked not for technical reasons... but a CoC dispute. Seriously.

The Pokemon Go Spying Conspiracy Theory? Yeah. It's Verified.

Pokemon Go using your phone camera to build a CIA-backed 3D Map AI system.

It sounds like an insane movie plot. But it's real.

In 2016, this was "Lunduke's crazy conspiracy theory about Pokemon Go being used to spy on everyone, backed by the CIA". Now, in 2024, Niantic Labs (the makers of Pokemon Go), proudly brags about using Pokemon Go to spy on you... and using that covertly obtained information to build a massive, 3D artificial intelligence mapping system of private spaces.

"We receive about 1 million fresh scans each week, each containing hundreds of discrete images."

In other words: Lunduke was right.

The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

openSUSE says "No Lunduke allowed!"

Those in power with openSUSE make it clear they will not allow me anywhere near anything related to the openSUSE project. Ever. For any reason.

Well, that settles that, then! Guess I won't be contributing to openSUSE! 🤣

So, a few hours ago, Debian dropped a security advisory for ninety-six CVEs for Linux, the kernel. Ninety-six (96)! I have an axe to grind with Linux. Can't wait for that Biden EO (EDIT: EO 14071, I was too lazy to look it up when I first wrote this) deadline to pass, so that I can see if anybody other than the Linux Foundation did the thing they did. Oh I suspect Linux is getting axed with me very soon. https://lists.debian.org/debian-security-announce/2024/msg00233.html

"The Spectrum" looks awesome. I will get one for Christmas. This was my first home computer (1983) so the nostalgia is incredible. I sometimes play on emulators or in the browser (Manic Miner and Penetrator) but it is not the same. Having a machine that is almost identical to the original Spectrum will be great.

@Lunduke this would be worthy of a video!
