A few quick -- but extremely important -- notes for everyone.

Some key statements on not running ads, subscriptions, hangouts, and how to contact me:

1) My Lunduke.com email address is having serious problems. If you need to get ahold of me, use my backup GMail address: bryanlunduke at gmail.com.

2) If you have a Lifetime or Yearly Triple Pass subscription -- and you don't currently have working access to one or more of the sites (Lunduke, ConservativeNerds, or NerdyEntertainment) -- email me and I can fix that up lickety-split.

3) Many of you were granted full, on-the-house Locals access for a variety of reasons over the last year or two (such as complimentary subscriptions after layoffs, or if you had recently grabbed a yearly subscription on Substack, etc.). Those complimentary subscriptions will be removed in the next day or two. Highly recommend grabbing a subscription here on Locals if you want to keep access going. (This is a bit of housekeeping that I'd been putting off for too long.)

4) I'll leave the current sale going through tomorrow (Sunday). So, if you fall into that category, this is a good way to be all set.

https://lunduke.locals.com/post/5183252/lunduke-launches-groundbreaking-multisale

5) The Lunduke Journal is making a firm re-commitment to never take money from other companies -- including to never run advertisements. In order to continue this, we're going to need to make an increasing amount of our articles "Subscriber Exclusive". If you are a full subscriber, you won't even notice that. If you are only a free subscriber (or not a subscriber at all), you'll be seeing more and more articles be restricted (such as yesterday's article on Tech Layoffs). If subscriptions increase in a significant way, we can go back to having all articles be free for the public.

6) We will be resuming what we used to call the "Founding Member Hangouts". This will be for everyone who has access to all three sites and I will be announcing the first one this week. This is a casual hangout that is not recorded as a show. Just a chance for nerds to talk as friends.

7) Linux Sucks live broadcast time announcement on Monday.

That is all. Carry on. 😎

The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

openSUSE says "No Lunduke allowed!"

Those in power with openSUSE make it clear they will not allow me anywhere near anything related to the openSUSE project. Ever. For any reason.

Well, that settles that, then! Guess I won't be contributing to openSUSE! 🤣

The End of the $89 Lifetime Sub is Nigh!

Quick reminder: The massive deal The Lunduke Journal has been running — 70%+ off Lifetime Subscriptions, 50% off all other subscriptions — ends after tomorrow (Saturday, January 31st).

Considering that, here are the steps I recommend:

  1. Grab the $89 Lifetime Subscription before it ends tomorrow night.

  2. High five yourself for saving money and supporting Indie Tech Journalism.

  3. Maybe… grab a donut?

That is all.

$89 Lifetime Lunduke Subs ends this week!

Quick heads up, that the $89 Lifetime Subscription to The Lunduke Journal discount ends… at the end of this week!

Discounting Lifetime Subscriptions by over 70% was an absolute blast. So many of you took advantage of the offer that we’re now up to four Lifetime Subscriber walls at the end of every video. Crazy!

But something that awesome can’t last forever. Which means that, in just a few days, Lifetime Subscriptions will return to their regular price of $300.

With no plans to do another wild discount like that any time soon.

So.

  1. If you haven’t already, snag an $89 (via Bitcoin) or $99 (via Substack or Locals) Lifetime Subscription.

  2. Then let me know if you’d like to be added to the Lifetime Wall of Shame Awesomeness.

My guess is, a the current rate, that 4th Lifetime Wall will be full by Friday.

Bonkers.

And, once again, thank you to each and every subscriber. The Lunduke Journal would not be possible without you.

Lunduke Journal Week In Review - Jan 16th, 2025

Whew! It’s been another wild week for Tech News!

Here’s a crazy stat for ya:

We are currently 16 days into 2026, and The Lunduke Journal has already recorded 19 shows (17 of which have been published on every platform, and 2 others to be published this weekend everywhere… but are already available via the MP4 download page). And that’s with taking New Year’s Day off (and getting the flu this week).

It’s a heck of a lot of Tech News, to be sure.

Lunduke’s Top Stories for the Week

If you only have time to watch a few of shows, I recommend these 3 as being the most interesting (or important… or just… strange) from the last week:

In other words: A pretty gosh-darned crazy week for Linux.

(Those links are to Lunduke.Substack.com, but you can watch all of those shows on any other platform. As always.)

Other Tidbits of Awesomeness

A few other notes on this, most excellent, Friday!

And, with that, I leave you with a screenshot of the MP4 listing of the shows so far in 2026. Bonkers.
