The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

openSUSE says "No Lunduke allowed!"

Those in power with openSUSE make it clear they will not allow me anywhere near anything related to the openSUSE project. Ever. For any reason.

Well, that settles that, then! Guess I won't be contributing to openSUSE! 🤣

I often wear a tac hat with a patch on the front that reads "Come and Take It" with a picture of a red Swingline stapler. This morning a coworker gifted me this. Best Christmas present ever!

🙄 I guess that "RUMBLE" gets to be the New Domain Server, while "LOCALS" is being Demoted as the Domain Controller (DC) which handles the User Accounts for everybody messing with a Community on Locals.com.

  • Note: Screenshot shows the two different Page Rendering Styles (for Desktop Browser). The right side feels more "friendly" to me. Navigation related to User Info seems like a train-wreck, but maybe it's just a matter of re-learning layouts.
  • At some point, I guess a single "NewsFeed" format will be FORCED on all communities, and I'm not sure if that means the "individual article" layouts will get mangled.

LazyJournal

Imagine a cool LazyGit style interface for journalctl. This is LazyJournal. Written in go, LazyJournal is a light, fast, and easy to use TUI interface for viewing all the logs.

Need to do some bug fixing over SSH? Having problems going from log to log to diagnose a system bug? This app can help.

Here is the blurb:

Terminal user interface for journalctl, file system logs, as well Docker and Podman containers for quick viewing and filtering with fuzzy find, regex support (like fzf and grep) and coloring the output (like tailspin), written in Go with the awesome-gocui (fork gocui) library.
