Lunduke.com articles moving to Substack (no impact on Locals)
I've made the decision to migrate the articles on Lunduke.com over to Substack (https://lunduke.substack.com/).
Those Lunduke.com articles are getting an absolute ton of traffic now. And bringing them to Substack will make it much easier to monetize that... without the need for any advertising.
I dislike advertising tremendously -- it treats the readers like the product, and that makes me feel yucky. And I really don't want to do it (in any form). After talking with some of the successful writers and journalists that have jumped onto the Stubstack train, it became clear that this is the best way to stay 100% ad-free across ALL of my content.
Locals will remain my core community -- and retain the largest bulk of exclusive content. And all Substack paid posts will also be posted here to Locals for all Supporters.
Supporters here on Locals won't need to subscribe on Substack unless you really, really want to. You can, of course. But it is absolutely not necessary to get all of my content.
Starting now, here is the breakdown of the various Lunduke sites and services:
Lunduke.Locals.com
This is the core Lunduke Journal community, and it will remain so. I love it here.
Locals Supporter Exclusives:
- Lunduke & Friends Podcast
- Big Shows (like Linux Sucks and exclusive videos)
- Exclusive Books
- The Best Nerdy Community in the World
Lunduke.Substack.com
The articles (satire pieces, how to's, opinion pieces, etc.) are all moving from Lunduke.com over to Lunduke.Substack.com, starting this week.
Any article that is a Paid Substack Exclusive... will also be posted for all of the Supporters here on Locals. So if you are a Supporter here on Locals, you don't need to worry about also pitching in buckazoids over on Substack... you get everything on Locals as well.
ConservativeNerds.Locals.com
Where I talk politics. With nerds. The other places stay 100% politics free... this is where I can vent about political things with like-minded nerds. There's also a Conservative Nerds podcast that is hosted here (and only here).
Lunduke.com
The Lunduke.com website is going to slowly morph into a gateway and catalogue of... everything. Where to find different pieces of content and exclusives and lots of links.
If you want to choose between only one of the subscription services (Substack or Locals)... I recommend you choose Locals. There are simply more perks and a vibrant community. But if you are already using Substack -- or feel like you want to give some extra support -- Lunduke.Substack.com is probably worth at least getting a free subscription.
The official launch of https://lunduke.substack.com/ doesn't happen until Monday. Consider this a "soft launch weekend". There's a bit of work left to do (mostly on Lunduke.com), but I wanted to give all of you the heads up now. Because you're special. š
