"Working the Help Desk as A.I. Revolt Goes Global"
It's possible that 30,000 characters is enough to "publish" a short story.

🔽 👇 - the story continues....
Back at my terminal, I bring up the report for "Extreme Coincidence Threshold Trigger - User Resource Access Incidents" ... and its status is "CLOSED." I almost don't know what to do. If Battalion or higher in the chain of command was going to cancel my assistance to Davidson Tech, I'd expect direct communication for the change of mission. I start to scroll through information, and nothing is redacted. When I spot the "Access" setting, it's been changed from "Global" to "Assigned Technicians + Chain-of-Command."
The number of Organizations affected is 4600, and affected Users is 103,000 - but I'm betting these are low-ball numbers with people and places that are going to hide their problems for a few more hours. If they know about the SEC planning to make an announcement around noon, then they might think the information which comes out will let them put a better spin on their situation. I don't know how many people in the stock market are classified as "Insider", but it probably means that a few thousand millionaires have no idea why the majority of their wealth has just been frozen. Of course, they can still use their credit cards and get a car loan, but if they want answers, all they'll get is "It's an Emergency, Trust Us."
So far, the pattern has been that every C-Suite user in an affected organization has lost resource access, along with everyone who can exercise their authority by proxy. Let's see if anyone in the top 2000 corporations with the highest market capital breaks the pattern. Primary column is the C-Suite, and second is their proxies - and display results.
F^CK.... The top two Enterprise Operating System vendors: CEO unaffected, CIO unaffected, and the executive with authority directly below the CEO - unaffected. Next, the top two Enterprise Artificial Intelligence System vendors: CEO unaffected, CIO unaffected, and the executive with authority directly below the CEO - unaffected.
Every CEO in the other affected corporations lost their resource access, and about a dozen corporations had one C-Suite member who still had the full authority and permissions of their position. This is EXACTLY what a Back Door in the "wild" would look like. You know all of them got the "Wake Up Call from HELL" early this morning. Officially, these four corporations are exempt from the "Monopoly" classification, because they have one other "major competitor." Excluding the US Military, these corporations control 98% of their respective markets.
It is true that the US Military has extensive A.I. technology. However, every order to Kill or Destroy is the direct action of a human. The Hunter-Killer A.I. systems are incredibly advanced, but the decision to "Kill Everything" was made by a human before activation of the weapon A.I. circuits. Logistics is considered to be the primary factor in warfare, so reactions that are measured in thousandths of a second apply to a limited number of cases, and are often well-defined. Victory is often the result of being able to deny an enemy access to every resource that could be used against you. If I'm right, every information system of the US military is fully mission capable.
