This is what the GNOME Foundation has been working on, in secret, for the last 6 months?

It's been a long week. Let's browse pictures of Retro Battlestations. TRS-80, OS/2 Warp, 486 DX2-66, Osborne 4, Commodore 64 SX, Sweet Roland Synths and more.
Tired of "buying" software only to realize you merely have a "license" that can be taken away? A new law in California will allow fines for companies that do this for digital goods (including games, music, and movies).
Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.
It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

Those in power with openSUSE make it clear they will not allow me anywhere near anything related to the openSUSE project. Ever. For any reason.
Well, that settles that, then! Guess I won't be contributing to openSUSE! 🤣

Loving the Modern World
FaceTiming with my grandson is a wonder of modern life. They live four hours away, so this is how I see him most. He totally gets that he's talking to Pawpaw. He wants to hold the phone and disconnects us a lot but it’s fun. He gives me kisses by phone.
My daughter sends us photos nearly every day. What a boon to families that don’t live near each other.
We have a family group chat. Three adult children and their partners are all on it keeping us connected with ease.
Don’t want to go back to the dark ages myself.
If you only have time for two shows, check out the "Real-Time Linux" and "FreeCAD" episodes. Some seriously fun, good news for Linux in there.
But, boy-howdy, outside of Linux... there was some seriously funky news this week. Especially when it comes to AI shenanigans. Fake AI Podcasts, AI used to brainwash people, AI surveillance... pretty weird and dark stuff. All of the AI stories are worth checking out.
