ASUS moves power button to center of all laptop keyboards

"Easier than ever to hit your laptop's power button."

Leading computer manufacturer, ASUS, has today announced that the "Power" key has been moved to the center of all laptop keyboards -- swapping places with the seldom used "G" key.

"For many years, ASUS has led the industry in Power Key Placement Convenience (tm)," stated ASUS CEO, Hercules Tamagachi. "Now, ASUS has taken keyboard layout to the next level by moving the power key right to the dead center of the keyboard. Making it easier than ever to hit your laptop's power button."

"The Power Key used to be at the top right corner of the keyboard -- smack dab between the Page Up and Delete keys," continued Tamagachi. "And while it was convenient to have the Power key located 4 millimeters from the Delete key... our research indidcated that users wanted to hit the Power key even more easly."

This new keyboard layout will, reportedly, also make it far easier to type the letter "g" when a user intended to press the "Page Down" key -- an optimization sure to be celebrated by writers everywhere.

The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

The head of the largest hiring company in America has said that the traditional college to job pipeline, the path to many white collar jobs, is gone. Entry level jobs no longer exist in numerous industries.

Today, he advises, high school grads looking to find traditional work should either learn a blue collar skill or learn AI. White collar jobs will continue to decline for the foreseeable future.

There will still be tech jobs and white collar knowledge workers, of course, but they have to learn to use the AI that will one day replace them.

“I think any kind of technology is still a good career trajectory, and the skilled trades are coming up rapidly,” Noordende said, reassuring hopefuls that there are still opportunities for “knowledge workers.”

But, it’s those who know how to properly apply AI to complement their skills that he believes will see the most success.

AI Employee Tirelessly Creates Linux Utilities

I’ve been building my own platform for autonomous AI. It’s an experiment in
self-directed AI agents—or “AI Employees,” as I call them.

Can I build one? Can it create actual value? And what lessons are there to be
learned when an AI system is allowed to work autonomously over time?

I call them AI Employees because I manage them much like employees: each has a
defined mission, operating boundaries, a backlog, scheduled working hours, and
a review process.

I gave this particular employee a mission: create useful Linux utilities in C.
Avoid external libraries. Follow sound C practices. Test the code rigorously.
Use linters, compilers, sanitizers, and static-analysis tools. Follow the Unix
philosophy of small command-line programs that do one job well—all the “good
stuff” I’ve heard linux lords laud for years.

I personally work much higher in the technology stack. I prefer GUIs, love my
Mac, and use cloud services extensively.

Vim beats Emacs!

Well, we’ve done it.

We’ve answered the eternal question: “Which Lunduke Journal Lifetime Subscriber Wall would fill with names quicker? Emacs or Vim?”

The answer, it turns out, is “Vim”. And it takes just 8 days.
