Lunduke Returning To the Land of the Living, Sale Ends Tonight

It's been one heck of a week here at Casa de Lunduke.  Sick wife.  Sick kids.  Sick... me.  

Luckily the worst of it seems to have passed -- now just dealing with the lingering Feelings of Uck (tm) -- and I have graduated firmly into the "still needs to lay in bed but might as well get a little writing done so I don't go stir crazy" phase of this illness.

I've got an article underway.  Though I'll likely hold onto that until Monday.  Friday is a rough day to release big articles... and I'd like to do a show to go along with this one (I suspect I'm a couple days out from being able to record).

I was hoping to get one more snarky promotional article out this week (along the lines of the GNOME one) -- mostly because I had an idea for one that really made me smile -- but I may just need to save that one for a rainy day.  😎

One thing is certain: The "Lunduke, Lunduke, Lunduke" sale ends tonight at midnight.  I'll update the sale page as soon as the sale goes down (unless I'm sleeping... which I should be... in which case you can snag the sale price as long as the sale page still lists the sale as active).

Thanks again to everyone for being patient while I'm sick.  And huge thanks to all of you nerds who have continued to post nerdy news to Locals while I'm out of commission.

The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

Google really wanted me to let you know about this. As my "Recommended" programming, oops I mean viewing for today.

And, it is basically them telling what some of us already realize. It is ALL going to so-called artificial intelligence (AI). It doesn't matter how much anyone cares to doubt or deny it.
