With the big move of The Lunduke Journal over to Locals, I want to give everyone a primer on the easiest way to find all of the subscriber exclusive perks on Lunduke.Locals.com.

The good news: It is so much easier on Locals than it was on Substack!

In fact, everything is in one spot now. Looking for “Linux Sucks” or some of the books? Easy peasy.

Go to Lunduke.Locals.com and click “Content” on the left hand side of the webpage.

Once you do that, a new page will open up with four tabs along the top:

  • Videos

  • Podcasts

  • PDFs

  • Articles

Looks something like this:

What’s fantastic about this is you can select the type of content you’re looking for (all of the books and magazines are in the PDF section, all of the “Linux Sucks” videos are in the Videos section, etc.)… and then you can sort and search through them all from this one spot.

Every podcast. Every video. Everything. Right there. So handy.

And all of this is also available via both the website… and the iOS and Android Locals application. On the mobile app simply tap the “play” arrow button on the bottom toolbar to bring up the Content page. Everything is right there.

If you have any questions, just head over to Lunduke.Locals.com and ask! Or toss an email to [email protected]. There’s always someone around who can help. :)

All new articles are being published exclusively at Lunduke.Locals.com.

The Pokemon Go Spying Conspiracy Theory? Yeah. It's Verified.

Pokemon Go using your phone camera to build a CIA-backed 3D Map AI system.

It sounds like an insane movie plot. But it's real.

In 2016, this was "Lunduke's crazy conspiracy theory about Pokemon Go being used to spy on everyone, backed by the CIA". Now, in 2024, Niantic Labs (the makers of Pokemon Go), proudly brags about using Pokemon Go to spy on you... and using that covertly obtained information to build a massive, 3D artificial intelligence mapping system of private spaces.

"We receive about 1 million fresh scans each week, each containing hundreds of discrete images."

In other words: Lunduke was right.

The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

openSUSE says "No Lunduke allowed!"

Those in power with openSUSE make it clear they will not allow me anywhere near anything related to the openSUSE project. Ever. For any reason.

Well, that settles that, then! Guess I won't be contributing to openSUSE! 🤣
