A quick Locals primer for the new folks!

Welcome to the wonderful world of The Lunduke Journal on Locals! Here's a couple of tips and links to help get you acquainted!

You can find all of the exclusive subscriber goodies (PDFs, videos, podcasts, etc.) right in one spot (searchable and sortable):

If you need to get ahold of Lunduke, go to the main website (Lunduke.Locals.com) in a browser and click the big "Message Lunduke" button on the right hand side of the page.

All full subscribers can post top level posts visible to everyone (and comment on all posts). Feel free to start any nerdy discussions you like!

All posts can be filtered and sorted to make it easier to see only what you want. At the top of the site (or in the app) there is a "Posts: " filter option which lets you show only posts by me, the whole community, and a few other options. And the "Sort by: " setting is also quite handy (I usually sort by "Recent" ) to get a simple chronological list of posts.

There are three different communities here on Locals:
1) Lunduke.Locals.com -- the primary, Tech-focused community
2) NerdyEntertainment.Locals.com -- focused on nerdy entertainment (TV, comics, books, etc.)
3) ConservativeNerds.Locals.com -- the only place around here where politics is allowed

(Subscriptions to each of those Locals communities is a separate thing. You can subscribe to each individually or as a batch as a "Founding Member" or "Lifetime" subscriber. If you have questions on how to do that, simply ask Lunduke or post in the community.)

The Rules around here are super simple:
1) No cursin' and swearin'. (We keep things pretty family friendly.)
2) No politics. (Except in the designated area.)
3) Be Excellent to Each Other

If you need any pointers -- or have any questions -- just make a post, put a comment here, or message Lunduke directly. There's always someone around who can help out!

The futility of Ad-Blockers

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.

It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.
