I already let some of the Founding Members know yesterday in the weekly Founding Newsletter, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up with as much advance notice as possible:
Starting sometime soon, I'll be raising the price of the Founding Member and Lifetime Subscriptions a bit. There are so many perks being added, that it just makes sense.
If you were thinking of moving over to a Founding or Lifetime Subscription (or renewing your Founding Member sub for another year), my recommendation would be to do so sooner rather than later so you can use the lower price.
(If you get an extra year of Founding Member at the current rate, via Locals, I can tack an extra year onto both your Locals and Substack accounts. And if you move to Lifetime... well... you're Lifetime. You're set forever.)
A lot of you have been supporting me since the beginning (or close to it) and I want to make sure you can get the lower prices. Your support has meant the absolute world to me and I want to make sure I do right by all of you! š

Ads are filling the entirety of the Web -- websites, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. -- at an increasing rate. Prices for those ad placements are plummeting. Consumers are desperate to use ad-blockers to make the web palatable. Google (and others) are desperate to break and block ad-blockers. All of which results in... more ads and lower pay for creators.
It's a fascinatingly annoying cycle. And there's only one viable way out of it.

After 20 years together (18 years married), I was finally able to get my lovely wife to watch Die Hard. She never had any interest because of how violent it was, but for whatever reason she was open to it this Christmas. Iām happy to report that she loved it! Yippee-ki-yay everyone.
